Echidna and Typhon united and beget the monstrous two-headed dog Orthrus. Cerberus, the dog from Hades, is his brother.

Along with the shepherd Eurytion, Orthrus has guarded the monster Geryon’s fantastic oxen. Hercules strangles him and obtains the oxen.
